- Thomas A. Edison

All men die. Not all men live.
- Anon

one of the best ways to find out where someone fits in your life is to see the hole it makes when they are not there.

Problem description: "the Network seems to be slow, Dxxx got a couple phone calls, one from up north, and one from headquarters."
Degrees' answer: "the Network is 115+ switches, 70+ servers, 40+ routers, 30+ applications, and 1,700+ workstations. Can we be a little more specific than that?"
- Degrees, from the 'dot

Never mind what others do;
do better than yourself, beat your own record from day to day,
and you are a success.
- William J. H. Boetcker

Great is the road I climb,
but the garland offered by an easier effort
is not worth the gathering.

SUBSTITUTE
FOR FRUCTIS
IS OUTRAGEOUS
- quote from turg

Not only this Saturday, but I strapped one to a carrier pigeon at 7pm on Christmas Eve night and let it go, and we got our movie delivered to us by a wombat on skis at 5am Dec. 26th! How ya like me now?
- Me, again

The aim of an argument or discussion should not be victory, but progress.
- Joseph Joubert

Nah, just compared to my level of ranting, you're lying on a floating bed spouting obsenities. And I mean that in a good way.
- buffer-overflowed, about sielwolf's rants

Children need models rather than critics.
- Joseph Joubert

We can often do more for other men by trying to correct our own faults than by trying to correct theirs.

The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone else believes in him and is willing to trust him with his friendship.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Trials, temptations, disappointments -- all these are helps instead of hindrances, if one uses them rightly. They not only test the fibre of a character, but strengthen it. Every conquered temptation represents a new fund of moral energy. Every trial endured and weathered in the right spirit makes a soul nobler and stronger than it was before.
- James Buckham

I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely
miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite
certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing.
- Agatha Christie

The most important thing I have learned over the years
is the difference between taking one's work seriously and
taking one's self seriously. The first is imperative, and
the second disastrous.
- Margot Fonteyn

The happy people are those who are producing something;
the bored people are those who are consuming much and producing nothing.
- William Ralph Inge

To laugh often and much;
to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children...
to leave the world a better place...
to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right.
- Henry Ford

It would be nice to be a legend. Being real is much harder.

"In Soviet Russia...tabs browser you!
Good lord I'm horrible at those. But seriously, tabs are the shizz-nit. They're the new Coke. Okay, not the new Coke, but maybe when the brought back Classic Coke (which is what they still call it, even though they've not had new Coke for like twenty years). They're like finding ten bucks in your pants. They're like finding ten bucks while you're standing in line at the food court, when you were gonna put it on your debit card but you don't really have any money in the first place, but now that you found ten bucks and your order comes to nine dollars and eighty-three cents, you've got change.

Tabs are that good, baby. Especially in Mozilla or Safari with that popup blocker shit. It's like browsing the nine heavens, or however many there are supposed to be. Like browsing the top of mount Olympus.

You've got change."
-Me, about browser tabs.
